Air Purifier

Ionisers are incredibly good at cleaning the air.

Unlike standard air cleaners, ionisers have a really unique way of purifying the air we breathe.

How air cleaners usually work.

Most air purifiers work by sucking “dirty” air from a room, cleaning it through a filter, then blowing it back into the room again. The problem with this method is that the rest of the room still contains unfiltered “dirty” air. And by mixing clean air back into it, you are effectively just diluting the air pollution – not completely removing it.

All the air in the room has to be cycled round and round many times through the filter – and each time a little bit more pollution is removed. (It’s a bit like cleaning a murky pond or dirty bathwater by scooping out a bucketful at a time, then pouring in another bucket of clean water – it takes forever!)

To be effective the air cleaner’s fan must move a substantial amount of air. This can be draughty, noisy and uses energy. The draught itself will keep dust particles swirling and airborne. And all the time it’s running the filter is clogging up with debris, making it less efficient.

How ionisers purify the air

The special quality of ionisers is actually how they remove pollution from the air:
The ioniser generates an invisible “cloud” of negative ions which gently spread out into the room. As they move through the air, these air ions are attracted to individual particles of pollen, dust and smoke, actively seeking them out and causing them to fall to the ground. Even tiny particles too small to see are drawn from the air with ease. And it’s these tiny pollutants which are the most difficult for our bodies to deal with, the ones that cause most of our allergies and also the ones normal filters have most difficulty catching.

All this is done outside the ioniser. So, no fans, no filter, no draughts, no noise – which leads to an extremely low running cost too!
